Digital India Internship Scheme 2026: An internship serves as an opportunity for a student to gain direct and practical work experience under the guidance of a qualified and experienced supervisor or mentor. Its objective is also to participate in the learning process through experimentation actively and to apply the knowledge acquired in the classroom to practical situations. In the broader interest of the student community, and intending to further enrich the management and implementation of its various schemes and programs, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has decided to notify these “Internship Guidelines” to provide a framework for engaging interns for a limited duration.

Digital India Internship Scheme 2026 Eligibility

Indian students from recognized universities in India who have secured at least 60% marks in the last held degree or certificate examination and are pursuing:

1. 1. For all areas except (ii) & (iii) below:
      1. B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech/M.Sc. (Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Electronics/ Communications)
      2. MCA/DOEACC ‘B’ level
   2. For areas “Public policy on Internet” and “Policy on Online Gaming.”
      1. LL.B
   3. For the area “Digital Economy.”
      1. Bachelor’s in Economics and Statistics

1. Possessing the minimum qualifications as above shall not guarantee an internship in this Ministry. Candidates having exposure in the area of intended internship with a good academic background and having higher qualifications, based on need, shall be given preference.

Digital India Internship Scheme 2026 Stipend

• A token stipend of Rs. 10,000/- per month would be paid to an Intern, subject to satisfactory performance, duly certified by his Supervisor/Mentor.
• The intern shall be paid after the completion of the internship on submission of the report duly accepted by this Ministry.
