
India Post GDS 2026 : India Post has started the Document Verification (DV) process for candidates shortlisted in the third merit list of the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Recruitment 2026. Candidates whose names appear in the merit list are required to complete the verification of their documents within the stipulated deadline.
According to the official notification, the last date to complete the document verification process is May 26, 2026. Candidates who fail to appear within the deadline may have their candidature rejected.
Over 28,000 Vacancies to be Filled
A total of 28,636 posts are being filled under this recruitment drive. Category-wise distribution is as follows:
General: 12,696 posts
OBC: 5,694 posts
SC: 3,942 posts
ST: 2,716 posts
EWS: 2,719 posts
PwD: 869 posts
Selection Process
The selection for India Post GDS posts is based on the marks obtained in Class 10 and the circle preference submitted by the candidates during the application process. Shortlisted candidates are called for document verification at the respective postal division offices.
Salary Structure
Selected candidates will receive monthly remuneration based on their post:
BPM (Branch Post Master): ₹12,000 to ₹29,380 per month
ABPM/Gramin Dak Sevak: ₹10,000 to ₹24,470 per month
Required Documents for DV
Candidates must carry original documents along with self-attested photocopies during the verification process. The required documents include:
Class 10 mark sheet
Identity proof
Caste certificate (if applicable)
EWS certificate (if applicable)
Domicile certificate
Medical certificate
Passport-size photographs
Printout of application form
Important Instructions
India Post has clearly stated that completing document verification within the deadline is mandatory. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of candidature.
