Haryana Electric Tractor Subsidy Scheme, Know Here

In a major step towards promoting sustainable farming and reducing dependence on diesel, the Haryana government has announced a subsidy of ₹5 lakh for farmers purchasing electric tractors.

The decision comes amid rising fuel costs and is aimed at making farmers more self-reliant while encouraging the use of modern agricultural technology in the state.

Haryana Industries Minister Rao Narbir Singh recently held discussions with several electric tractor manufacturing companies as part of the initiative. During the meeting, a 45-horsepower electric tractor was demonstrated in the field using a rotavator for ploughing operations.

Demonstration Addressed Farmers’ Concerns

Many farmers had doubts about whether electric tractors could handle heavy agricultural equipment such as rotavators, ploughs, and loaded trolleys. However, during the demonstration, the tractor successfully performed field operations without any issues.

The government believes this will help build confidence among farmers regarding the efficiency and capability of electric tractors for regular agricultural use.

Tractor Worth ₹15 Lakh May Cost Farmers Only ₹8 Lakh

According to officials, the 45 HP electric tractor currently costs around ₹15 lakh. The state government is also in talks with manufacturers to reduce the market price by nearly ₹2 lakh.

If the price reduction is finalized, the tractor’s cost would come down to around ₹13 lakh. After the government subsidy of ₹5 lakh, farmers would effectively need to pay only about ₹8 lakh for the vehicle.

Haryana Plans to Attract Manufacturing Units

The government is also encouraging electric tractor manufacturers to set up production plants in Haryana.
